Greater Houston Spectacular TM

*Contest fees due 7 days prior to contest date. Schools will be taken off the schedule if payment is not received! Fees will not be accepted at the door.

  1. Solo, Ensemble, Officer and Team competition will be held on Saturday, February 11.  
    Doors will open at 7:50 am (not before) for registration and floor practice.  The contest will begin by 9:00 am.  All events will compete in the Gymnasium while some solos will perform in the auditorium (number of solo/ensemble entries determine this each year).    The cafeteria area will be available for warm-up and rehearsal and will be marked the size of a regulation basketball court.  Please call Leslie Grant at Dawson High School (281) 412.8800 or grantlc@pearlandisd.org for information regarding floor surfaces, etc.  Have your soloists & ensembles prepared to perform in any location. Enclosed in the information packet is a diagram of the Dawson gyms/teams on deck/entrance & exit.  We would prefer for you to FOLLOW OUR DIRECTIONS ON ENTRANCE & EXIT, HOWEVER, IF IT DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU, PLEASE ASK FOR ASSISTANCE FROM OUR CONTEST WORKERS. 

  2. Important:  The bleachers will be pulled out for seating.  We ask that your routines be choreographed according to the boundary lines on a regulation size basketball court.  There will not be gym overflow.  Seating will be tight for spectators.  The gym seating on the judges’ side is reserved for those spectators paying admission.  As a courtesy to performers, judges, and the viewing audience, we ask that you sit during each performance and do not walk or stand while a performance is in action.

  3. Each team will be assigned a dressing room and hostess.  Please keep the rooms neat and clean as these are classrooms.  You are responsible for cleaning up trash, etc., in your assigned room.  Absolutely no food or drinks allowed in the classrooms.  Do not leave valuables unsupervised as this area is unsecured.  NO MEN ALLOWED IN DRESSING FACILITIES!  Please make sure you notify Leslie Grant in advance if you have male dancers.  Schools will be responsible for any damages made to school property.

  4. The Boosters have planned for incredible concessions this year.  You may call Leslie Grant regarding specific menu item or wait until a menu is sent by the host school the week of contest.
